Mission Statement
We are here to show women over 50 that we are just getting started! This camp is about chasing big goals, pushing past limits, and proving to ourselves that we can do anything we dream. When we surround ourselves with strong, like-minded women, we lift each other higher. Through movement, mindset, and adventure, we’ll fuel our bodies, strengthen our spirits, and embrace the joy of living fully—because our best years are NOW!
Meet The Vitality Coaches
Susan Loken, Christine Garcia, & Yohnnie Juhlin
We are committed to making your Vitality experience exceptional! Our team consists of three experienced trail running coaches, each with decades of expertise. We will support you in every aspect of your training, ensuring that all participants - whether in the front, center, or back - enjoy the journey to its fullest. Your satisfaction and enjoyment are our top priorities!
Coach Susan Loken
Susan discovered her passion for running at age 36 and went on to qualify for three USA Olympic Marathon Trials at ages 40, 44, and 48, achieving a personal best of 2:41. In her 50s, she ranked among the top over-50 marathoners in the country with a PR of 2:52.
Now in her 60s, Susan has transitioned to ultra trail running, winning her age group in every race she has entered and setting a course record at the Never Summer 60K on her 60th birthday.Beyond her own achievements, Susan has spent over 20 years coaching runners of all levels, helping them build self-belief and reach their goals. She began coaching fundraising teams for the nonprofit Chances for Children, working with underprivileged kids and implementing nutrition programs.
In 2012, Susan founded Believe Train Become, a coaching business dedicated to helping runners unlock their potential. She has also coached Girls on the Run for six seasons. Today, Susan’s passion is empowering women over 50 to achieve ambitious goals and enhance their health span through running. She believes in the power of community, surrounding herself with like-minded women who uplift and inspire one another—an ethos that drives her newest initiative: a transformative running camp for master women trail runners.
Coach Christine Garcia
Christine Garcia has been a dedicated runner since she was 15 years old when she signed up for her first 5K race! In college she raced all four years on the cycling road bike team, but always ran races for fun. The Bolder Boulder was her favorite. She has done this 10K almost every single year for over 30 years! Since those days she has run 4 ultramarathons, 11 marathons, and so many other road and trail races that she has lost count.
Christine’s passion is the outdoors and all kinds of activities and endurance endeavors. When not skiing, biking, hiking, or running, she is a high school science teacher, wife, and mother of two. Being surrounded by positive, brave and strong women in an outdoor epic adventure is what makes her the most happy!
Coach Yohnnie Juhlin
Yohnnie is passionate about wellness and holds a Nutrition degree from the University of Arizona, with a minor in Chemistry. She earned her Hot Yoga certification in 2010, along with two running coaching certifications: RRCA (2016) and Lydiard Level II (2018). Yohnnie discovered her love for running in 4th grade and has completed 15 marathons since her first in 1997, including two sub-3-hour races and numerous half marathons, qualifying for nationals in 2003.
In 2023, Yohnnie fell in love with trail running, completing a 60K ultra in Gould, Colorado, the Black Canyon Trail 60K in 2024, and the Devil On The Divide 50K. Some of her athletic highlights include earning her Pro Card in figure competition with the WNBF in 2004, completing a full Ironman at age 52 and two ½ Ironman races, and competing in four 100-mile mountain bike races.
Yohnnie is married and had her son at 48, who is now 6. She received her life-coaching certification in 2023, specializing in addiction, and she is currently writing a memoir focused on empowering women to overcome barriers and live their best lives.
Yoga Coach Kat Carter
Kat's passion is to create experiences that spark connection, joy and growth. She is an Ecstatic Dance facilitator, movement and meditation teacher, singer and modern mystic.
Kat has spent the last ten years teaching yoga, studying eastern philosophy, performing energy work and incorporating other therapies. She discovered that what people seek most is connection. Kat wants to continue to provide alternative avenues for those looking for conscious community and self discovery.
Kat facilitates retreats and workshops using flow state consciousness as a conduit for change and growth. She believes in the medicine of music and incorporates vocalization and instruments in all of her classes.
